Bunny Treasury on Etsy, "Hop in! Bunnies Helping Bunnies"

Special thanks to Michele from Etsy for Animals for adding Max Bailey and myself to her "Hop in! Bunnies Helping Bunnies 2" treasury list on Etsy! Many of the the Etsy for Animals members are helping out the Buckeye House Rabbit Society this month with donations based on their sales from their Etsy shops.

Our prints that are featured above are "Hiding", a little cottontail rabbit with Black-eyed Susans, by A E Ruffing,

and "Proud Mom", a Victorian mama bunny with a carriage-full of baby bunnies by Max Bailey. Both are available in my Etsy shop. 10% of sales (less shipping) from my and my daughter Elizabeth's Etsy shop will be donated to animal charities. So, come have a look around our shops, and the shops of other Etsy for Animals members.

Michele also added my "Yorkie Puppy" to her "Baby Animals Say Happy New Year!" treasury list on Etsy, which features items for sale from Etsy for Animals members. This print is also available in my Etsy shop.

Etsy for Animals: Artists Helping Animals

Mom and I joined Etsy for Animals just recently. This is a group of artists and craftspeople who have shops on Etsy, and who love and want to help animals. Many of them donate a percentage of their Etsy shop sales to animal charities each month. They also have an Etsy for Animals Shop. Items from this shop are donated by members, and 100% of the proceeds go to animal charities. You might want to check out their blog too.
We will be donating 10% of our Etsy shop sales (less shipping) to animal charities each month. My mom, along with Max Bailey, and later Abby Laurence, can be found at Art from the Studio of A E Ruffing on Etsy, and I can be found at The Art of Elizabeth Ruffing on Etsy.
Incidentally, I've also added the EFA links on the right sidebar of our blogs, along with a new categories section on the Ruffing's blog. Now it is a bit easier to find things...I hope.

New Handmade Winter-themed Holiday Cards by Elizabeth Ruffing

I've just put together a few sets of blank holiday cards for my Etsy shop. They are suitable for any winter holiday, or to be given just because. Above is "The Rabbit Dances".

This is "Snowy Night". Both images are printed on 100% cotton archival art paper, using Epson archival pigment-based ink for longevity, which means they can be saved, framed, and displayed.

I attached the images to acid-free ivory cardstock using acid-free glue to make cards that are 5 by 6 1/2 inches. They are blank inside, and they come with matching ivory envelopes.

They are available in sets of four, with a choice of four of one image, or two each of each image. They come bagged as a set and are currently priced at $8.00 per set of four, plus postage. They can be ordered on Etsy, or by emailing us at Ruffing's. Happy holidays!

Mini Giclee Cat Art Prints by Elizabeth Ruffing

I've decided to introduce mini versions of my prints. I'm not sure how long I'll offer them, but they are currently available in my Etsy shop, and on our website.

These prints are made from my original acrylic paintings and are printed on nice heavy-weight, 100% cotton art paper, using archival-quality, pigment-based Epson inks. They are signed below the image in pencil, and they each come in a protective cello sleeve.

From top to bottom, they are "The Guardian", "Laurence with Primroses and Daffodils", and "Something Stirring".

New Max Bailey Christmas Elf Prints

I've been adding more new prints on Etsy. These are two Christmas elves.

The sweet little elf above is dreaming of Christmas, while his chickdee friends keep him company. A big yellow moon is coming up in the night sky behind him. It is called "A Christmas Dream".

In "Final Touches", Santa's helpers are very busy putting the finishing touches on a Christmas ornament. Only the most artistic mice get to be Santa's helpers!

Both these prints are on 8.5 x 11 inch paper, with an image size of 8 x 10.5 inches, and retail for $22.00, plus postage. They are printed on art paper, using Epson archival-quality pigment-based inks, and come in protective cello sleeves. If you would like to order one directly from us, just email us and let us know.

"Goodnight Irene", One-of-a-kind Original Art Doll by Elizabeth Ruffing

After much hand basting, machine appliquéing, stuffing, machine and hand sewing, "Goodnight Irene" is complete.

I made her pattern basing it on my much loved Miss Annabelle, a favorite doll from my childhood. She is a big doll, about 22 inches tall, and about 14 inches seated. I drew and painted her face, giving her very pretty green eyes.

Here she is seated with "Lovely Lucy". Both are available in my Etsy shop. More photos can be seen on Flickr.
I also spent some time today organizing our ruffingsartdolls Flickr photo album, adding sets off to the right to make finding dolls of special interest a little easier.

I've been updating our eBay store as well, adding information to our My World page. I hope to do a complete overhaul on our About Me page soon.
I've added a really cool Etsy widget to the home page of elizabethruffing.com I'm enjoying looking at all those thumbnails of my artwork grouped together on the page. So colorful.
And, we have Max Bailey cat dolls still to photograph!

"Lovely Lucy" New One-of-a-kind Art Doll by Elizabeth Ruffing

This is Lovely Lucy. She is an original one-of-a-kind work of art, created from my own design and pattern. She is signed and dated. Lucy is entirely handmade and is meant to be displayed and loved, and she is sturdy enough to be played with. Her body is made of 100% cotton quilting fabrics, which have been fused to an extra layer of cotton sheeting for durability. Her bottom is weighted with Poly-Pellets so she can sit nicely while she looks around. She bends at her shoulders, hips, and knees.

I have hand painted her pretty face with acrylic paint and fabric medium, which I then heat set for permanence. Lucy is decorated with high quality ribbon trims, Rick Rack and machine appliquéd fabric. She has no loose or removable parts. She is stuffed with Poly-fil polyester stuffing. Her ponytails are hand quilted and are a chocolate color. Her eyes are hazel.

Lucy is approximately 10 1/4 inches tall when seated, and approximately 18 1/2 inches long when lying down.

Lucy will be available shortly in my Etsy shop. More photos of her can be seen on Flickr.

I am also still at work on more flower baby fairies, star babies, and another new doll pattern. Max Bailey has some new kitty dolls to photograph too. Stay tuned for more pictures in the near future!

New Chrysanthemum Flower Baby Fairy Art Doll by Elizabeth Ruffing

"Greta", my new chrysanthemum flower baby fairy is finished! I'll be putting her up for auction on eBay starting Friday, June 15th at about 9pm EST.

She has an antique reproduction baby face of papier mâché. Her head and pointed ears are paperclay, and her body is 100% cotton cloth. Her pale green butterfly wings with yellow spots are hand quilted and she is entirely hand painted with acrylic paint. She will be sealed with matte varnish for protection.
She has hidden button joints which make her posable, just like "Rosa" who left for her new home at the beginning of this week. I managed to get a few pictures of them together before she left on her journey.

Greta has an oak-colored stand that lifts her in the air so she can practice flying, and running through the air. She enjoys that.
You can view more pictures of them both on Flickr.

I'm also introducing some mini art plaques. I've painted 6 by 6 inch solid poplar wood to coordinate with my artwork and mounted several reproductions of my original watercolors on them. Above are "The Fairy and the Dove" and "Fairies and Butterflies".

Clockwise from the upper left these are "The Guardian", "Laurence with Primroses and Daffodils", "Iris and Foxgloves", and "The Rabbit Dances". They are all made using archival grade materials and I will be varnishing them for further protection. Prints of these images are available on our website.

New Elizabeth Ruffing Fairy Prints

These are two new fairy art giclée prints for our Ruffing's web site. Both are a standard size 8.5 by 11 inch image size on 9.5 x 12 inch fine art paper. Both are fantasy pieces based on my original watercolor and pen and ink paintings. Above is "Moon and Star" which depicts the moon as a woman with butterfly wings and a star as a young girl. Both are descending toward the horizon at dawn.
This giclée is entitled "The Moon Sings a Lullaby". I was imagining what kind of lullaby the moon would sing, if the moon could sing, to help people drift off to sleep. I thought of the sounds of katydids, which I’ve always loved to listen to on summer nights. And I thought of the poppy field in The Wizard of Oz, which caused Dorothy and her friends to fall asleep on their way to The Emerald City. This is the moon singing us all to sleep with a lullaby full of poppies and katydids.
Both prints are also available in my Etsy shop. Please visit!

Iris, Pansy, and Rose Floral Giclée Art Prints in Elizabeth Ruffing's Etsy Shop

I've added four of our floral giclée art prints to my Etsy shop. Each one is 3.5 by 5 inches image size on 6 x 8 inch fine art paper. I chose a standard size 6 by 8 inch paper size to expand framing options, as these will fit in either a standard 5 x 7 inch or a standard 6 x 8 inch size mat and frame set, with a white border showing.

Each giclée has a decorative floral border surrounding the central image. Above is "Pansies".

"Purple and White Iris"

"Peach Iris"

Please visit my shop and have a look.

The original watercolor paintings are also available for sale on our Ruffing's site.

Elizabeth Ruffing's New Etsy Shop

Elizabeth Ruffing's new Etsy shop is now open. I've stocked it with many of my fine art giclées and a couple of original art quilts as well. I'm planning on making the giclées on the Ruffing's site available on Etsy, to add an extra ordering option. I'll be updating the Ruffing's site to include buttons that link to Etsy on each giclée description page.
This is a giclée of my original watercolor painting, "The Rabbit Dances".
This is a one-of-a-kind original art quilt wall hanging of hand-dyed batiks framing a canvas print of my original watercolor, "Valentine", which shows a pale pink iris on a muted magenta, art nouveau-inspired wallpaper background.
