Tabitha the Tabby Kitten, New Original Folk Art Cat Doll Figurine by Max Bailey

Tabitha is a tabby and white kitten with bright yellow eyes and a sweet disposition.

Her favorite toy is a soft green ball, made especially for her. She always knows where it is, whether it has rolled under the bed, or behind the door, or under the stove.

It is filled with catnip. She delights in sneaking up on it, pouncing on it, and rolling around with it for hours.

Today she is wearing her best pink dress with little mauve flowers that encircle the skirt, and a matching mauve bow at the neckline. A big mauve sash ties in another bow at the back. Tabitha’s ivory petticoats show beneath the hemline of her dress. They match her big ivory collar. At the back you can see her striped kitty tail.

“Don’t muss up your pretty dress,” her mother cautions her.

And so Tabitha stands very still, holding her catnip ball, and wondering what in the world to do with herself until she can change back into her play clothes.

Tabitha is an original one-of-a-kind work of art, and she is meant for display only. No molds are ever used in my work. She and her ball are hand sculpted from paperclay, and entirely hand painted using acrylic paints. Her whiskers are made from stiffened cotton thread.

Tabitha is signed and dated, and sealed with matte varnish for protection and preservation. She rests firmly on a turned wooden base that is stained and sealed in golden oak.

Tabitha is an itty bitty kitty. She stands only 4 ½ inches tall.

"Tabitha" is available for $95.00 plus shipping. Please inquire with your zip code for a shipping quote to ruffings@ruffings.com. Please visit Tabitha's web page by clicking here.

Crocus the Siamese Kitten, New Original Folk Art Cat Doll Figurine by Max Bailey

Crocus is a sweet little Siamese kitten. She was born in the spring at the same time the first crocus bloomed.

Crocus is very earnest, and quite serious. She cannot comprehend how a bowl, which is always supposed to have food in it, can possibly not have food in it.

“This has to be a mistake,” she will say, as she looks at the empty bowl in shock and disbelief.

“This can’t be right,” she will sigh, as she paces back and forth in the kitchen.

“This is a HUGE oversight,” she will cry, her voice getting louder and louder.

“How could this happen?” she will howl in dismay, and, sure enough, someone will put her food in the bowl, and listen to her quietly purring.

Crocus has extraordinary blue eyes that look out from her dark little face. Her pale pink dress is covered with tiny blue flowers, and has a big ruffled collar edged in blue, with blue cuffs. Her blue sash is tied in a big bow at the back, where you can see her dark little tail. Ivory petticoats show below her hemline. She carries a very empty rose and white bowl.

Crocus is an original one-of-a-kind work of art, and she is meant for display only. No molds are ever used in my work. She and her bowl are hand sculpted from paperclay, and entirely hand painted using acrylic paints. Her whiskers are made from stiffened cotton thread.

Happy Holidays! New Chickadee Snow Scene Print by A E Ruffing

Happy holidays to all of you from each of us! We hope you are all weathering the storms and staying warm.

We'd like to introduce a new print of my "Carolina Chickadee and Eastern Red Cedar". I love to see chickadees in the snow, even though we haven't had any snow yet, here in North Carolina.

This little bird has been a part of my "Songbirds of the South" collector plate series from Oxmoor House/Southern Living Gallery, and he's been on a holiday card from the National Wildlife Federation. We're offering this chickadee print in a larger and a mini size.

Enjoy the wintry weather as much as you can and have a wonderful holiday, one and all!

New Original One-of-a-kind White Turkish Angora Folk Art Cat Doll by Max Bailey

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Snowbelle is a lovely white Turkish Angora kitty whose favorite time of year has finally arrived.

She sits by the window and waits for the magical snowflakes to begin falling from the sky.

Snowbelle loves the way the snow glistens when the moon is full and all the stars sparkle in the night sky. She loves it too when there’s a snow moon, and the snowflakes swirl softly all around her. She painted little scenes on her sled so she can remember how it feels all year long.

When the ground is white, Snowbelle will call her friend Hedda, and the two will take the sled and head for the downhill slope behind the barn. At the bottom of the hill they will lie on their backs and swish their paws in the snow to make kitty snow angels. Then they’ll roll the snow into giant balls to make kitty snowmen.

Snowbelle is an original one-of-a-kind work of art, created from my own design and pattern and is meant for display only. She is made from 100% cotton fabric which is sewn, stuffed, and completely hand painted with acrylic paints. She is 13 inches tall.

I sculpted Snowbelle’s face from paperclay, which I smoothed into her fabric head. Her pearl cotton whiskers were threaded through the paperclay before it dried.

Snowbelle’s arms are button-jointed with gold antique-looking buttons, so she can be easily posed, and her paws are needle-sculpted. Her white tail supports her very nicely, so that she can sit up all by herself on a shelf, or a table, or in a cabinet. She will also happily sit in a chair, or stand with a doll stand. (Chair and doll stand not included.)

I created Snowbelle’s pretty dress from blue cotton fabric that has a delicate pattern of snowflakes, and added white lace at the neckline. She has painted ivory bloomers that match her cute little high-button shoes with gold buttons. Her kitty legs are covered with tights that are striped in two shades of blue. They match her wooden sled.

Snowbelle is signed and dated, and sealed with matte varnish for protection and preservation.

New Original One-of-a-kind Boston Terrier Folk Art Dog Doll by Max Bailey

When Prudence had her first birthday, her mama told her she could pick out her very own doll.

It was not a difficult decision.

In fact, it was love at first sight. Little Alice was by far the most beautiful of all the doggie dolls.

Prudence takes Little Alice everywhere she goes, and shows her to everyone she meets.

“Isn’t she beautiful?” Prudence asks. They look at Little Alice, then at Prudence. They smile.

“She couldn’t be more beautiful,” they answer.

Prudence wears a pretty red dress that has blue flowers with yellow centers, and an ivory collar that matches her ruffled petticoats. Little Alice is dressed in bright yellow, with tiers of petticoats that show beneath her dress.

Prudence is an original one-of-a-kind work of art, and is meant for display only. No molds are ever used in my work. She and Little Alice are hand sculpted from paperclay, and entirely hand painted using acrylic paints.

Prudence is signed and dated, and sealed with matte varnish for protection and preservation. She rests firmly on a turned wooden base that is stained and sealed in golden oak. She stands 6 and 3/8 inches tall.

New Original One-of-a-kind Dachshund Folk Art Dog Doll by Max Bailey

Dinah is a pretty little Dachshund.

She is polite, and sweet, and thoughtful. Dinah always has a kind word and good wishes for everyone she meets.

Wherever Dinah goes, she brings a gift.

No occasion is necessary. She just likes to drop by and surprise her friends with something special she made that she thinks they might like.

What she doesn’t realize, and what her friends all know, is that Dinah herself is a gift.

Dinah wears a soft beige dress with a white collar and cuffs, and tiers of white petticoats that show beneath her dress. A soft bow of deep rose at the front matches the deep rose sash that ties in the back in a pretty bow.

Dinah is an original one-of-a-kind work of art, and she is meant for display only. No molds are ever used in my work. She and the gift she carries are hand sculpted from paperclay, and entirely hand painted using acrylic paints.
